Hi! My name is Dom and I’ve been keeping aquariums since I was a young boy. My love for the hobby started with red fish, blue fish, and plastic plants.

That love quickly turned into obsession. After scaping tank after tank and helping my friend get her hands wet with her first tank, I realized I wanted to teach other people to do the same.

Lots of new hobbyists quit after the first month because they have algae problems, their fish die, or their tank falls short of the crystal clear Instagram aquariums and they give up.

I don’t want those to be the reasons you leave the hobby. Through lots of trial and error, I’ve learned what works and what definitely doesn’t work when keeping fish, shrimp, and plants.

My mission is to show you how to set up a beautiful planted aquarium and maintain it so that it lasts for years.

When I’m not elbow-deep in one of my tanks, you can find me slinging a disc 400 yards at a disc golf course, fishing for my next biggest story, or doing something new in a different country. Oh, and my favorite fish is the cory cat.
